The Best and the Safest of The Golden Globes Red Carpet

The Golden Globes red carpet is one of the highest end events of awards season, leading to some spectacular looks, and many safe ones.

Most people think of the Oscars as the biggest red carpet event of the year, and they’re not wrong. In terms of high profile, nothing can been them. But in terms of taste level, it’s hard to beat the Golden Globes. One part Oscars, one part Emmys, and somehow considered higher end that both combined this supposedly more casual affair is actually one of the crowning nights of the red carpet season.

But with the advent of the Globes becoming a televised production, and the new era of fear at hand, now is not the time for Hollywood to take risks. Previous hosts Ricky Gervais, long known for his controversy, or Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, known for their wisecracks, have been swapped out for Jimmy Fallon, who is so inoffensive, the most interesting part of The Tonight Show is when The Roots show up. And for many of the stars, the “high risk high reward” factor in fashion holds too much risk right now.

Still, there were a few stunners this evening, as well as some honorable mentions. And even a terrible decision or two. Let’s dive in.
