Netflix’s Frontier Trailer Has Jason Momoa, Some Plot, and Also Jason Momoa

Netflix is starting the new year off with a bevy of new original series, including the upcoming Frontier, which stars Jason Momoa.

Rather than rest on its already-rather-considerable laurels, Netflix has continued to release new series. This month will bring the very-much-hyped A Series of Unfortunate Events to small screens everywhere. However, that isn’t the only thing that will appear this month. Netflix will also add Frontier.

The series stars Jason Momoa as Declan Harp during the 1700s in Canada. Today, a trailer hit the internet.

Check it out below:

It briefly strikes us that this trailer works better as it is, where Momoa as Declan only gets one growling line at the end of the trailer about telling people he’s here. The proceeding minute is spent building up some things we actually need to know about him: he used to work for the Hudson’s Bay Company, he now steals from the Hudson’s Bay Company, and he is not to be messed with.

Well, more accurately, the only way to take him down is to completely and totally destroy him. Apparently, death is not enough. It also seems like a young man will be sent to infiltrate Declan’s little group. Presumably the goal is to destroy it from the inside.

Pointedly, Netflix’s trailer description simply says that “Jason Momoa stars as Declan Harp, a part-Irish, part-native American outlaw campaigning to breach the fur trade”. They know what we’re all here for. It’s probably not a history lesson about the North American fur trade.

Not bad, Khal Drogo…or should we say Aquaman, since that’s coming up as well, with Justice League also slated to hit theaters this year? This could be a very good year for Momoa.

Alas, there will be just six episodes of Frontier in its first season, according to Entertainment Weekly, but the show has also already snagged a second season renewal.
