What is Even Happening in this Riverdale Promo?

The more we see of Riverdale on The CW, the more confused we are at what’s actually going to happen in this show and what’s going on with Archie.

Riverdale, Riverdale, Riverdale, how you confuse us. This show continues to absolutely boggle the mind, and even the new promos don’t manage to make much sense of things. With the premiere just a few short weeks away, this could conceivably be a problem.

Here’s the case in point: a fresh promo from the show, with a hat tip from us to CBR.

Let’s try and break some of this down, shall we? We have Archie being told he’s more dangerous than he looks. Is it because he’s running around Riverdale in what appears to be shorts and shorts only? The shot’s dark, so it’s a bit hard to tell.

Honestly, it doesn’t help that this promo lasts just a measly 20 seconds. We get little more than Cheryl Blossom promising to sow chaos after the death of her brother Jason, the statement that someone heard a gunshot but didn’t say anything, and another lingering shot of the Riverdale welcome sign.

By now, one suspects that we all are aware that the town likes to bill itself as a place that has pep in all capital letters with an exclamation point.

It truly feels like a classic teen drama, or much of what happens to air on The CW these days. Since Greg Berlanti helped to develop the series, that makes sense. (He’s also behind shows like Arrow and The Flash, which also air on The CW.)

To roughly summarize the show, the mystery at the heart is the mysterious death of Jason Blossom, and since promos talk about suspects, we feel safe in assuming that it’s murder of some sort. The question is: will it be solved in the first season or last throughout several seasons? More accurately, will Riverdale be able to do the same?
