Christian in the Future

The thing about the flashforward in this movie is that Christian is extremely sad and it makes him relatable to the viewer from the beginning. He is so happy and carefree in the beginning, just wanting to find love and art in Paris but then Satine dies and the Moulin Rouge takes everything away from him.

It is so sad to see the decline of Christian that you want to see how he got there. So you stay completely enthralled throughout the entire movie just to see how Christian fell so far. That and it is one of the first movies to do something like that. Within the first few moments of the movie, we learn all we need to about what happened to Satine and Christian.

In fact, it says “the woman I love is dead” in the opening scene. But still, we watch the entire movie trying to learn more. We watch knowing that Satine is going to die in the end somehow and we just want to know why. Also sad Christian is the hotter Christian. Maybe it’s that beard of his and his white tank top.

Whatever it may be, sad Christian makes the movie what it is and we love him for it.
