Your Song

Christian is a playwright and a poet. He thinks he has a meeting with Satine and she thinks that he is supposed to be the Duke and is only there to sleep with her. It ends up being a scene where Satine is trying to seduce Christian and he just wants to show her his ‘talent’. Granted the two misunderstand what his talent actually is until he starts to sing.

In a fantastic cover of the Elton John song of the same name, “Your Song” is one of the best moments of the entire movie. Christian is trying to show Satine that he should be the writer for the play the Moulin Rouge is going to put on and she ends up falling in love with his words.

And who wouldn’t? Ewan McGregor proves time and time again in this film that he is a pretty great singer but this song is just him. There is no one else and there are not really any gimmicks to take us away from the song. It is just Christian and Satine dancing to a beautiful rendition of this classic song.

That and it is pretty hot seeing dark haired Ewan McGregor belting out a tune.
