Come What May (Reprise)

The first “Come What May” was great and beautiful and showed their love for one another but the reprise is just heartbreaking. At this point, Satine knows she is dying and wanted Christian to leave so he wouldn’t get hurt.

He thinks it is because of the Duke, throws money at her feet in the middle of the performance and walks through the aisle to leave. But Satine stands and sings their love song to him for one last time. I say last time because she dies literally as soon as they are done singing it. Really, curtains close, she hits the ground and Satine is gone.

But during the song, it is just amazing to hear this woman who is struggling to breathe belt out the song her lover wrote for her about how much he loved her. Throughout the whole movie, you knew that Christian loved Satine and she loved him but it always felt a bit more on Christian’s side. Until this.

She took her last breath to tell him that she loved him and it made her death even more upsetting. These two just wanted to be in love and everything took that away from them.
