Christian

Christian is one of the best love interests around. He has his faults (mainly his jealousy towards Satine and the Duke) but he just wants to honestly love Satine and not have her feel like she has to sell herself to feel wanted.

He also is extremely naïve. Why, you ask? Because Christian goes to Montmartre to find himself as a writer and to find love and when he gets there, he realizes that it isn’t all he thought it would be. It’s not a ‘village of sin’ like his father said but it isn’t perfect either.

But Christian is nothing if not for his resilience. He wants to write and fall in love and he wants to live his life as he chooses so he works towards those goals. It just takes the movie for him to realize that he was foolish and sometimes things do not work out how he plan for them to.

Mainly because falling in love with a woman who is dying usually means ending up alone and broken by the end. Basically Christian ruins everything for those in the Moulin Rouge and cries because he is alone after Satine dies.

But we still love him because he’s an artist and we’re weak for those.
