Thor: Ragnarok Will Have a House Call from Doctor Strange

Thor: Ragnarok will feature more than just Thor and the Hulk. The Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange himself, will also make an appearance.

Thor: Ragnarok doesn’t even come out until November of this year, but we know rather a lot about the cast. Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Cate Blanchett, and Jeff Goldblum represent just some of the actors we’ll see. Now, however, we’ve learned that the God of Thunder and the Incredible Hulk might be part of a trio of heroes. According to D23 materials (and a hat tip to CBR), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will also show up to provide some magical assistance.

Now, D23 might not seem like a legitimate source if you’re not in the know. However, D23 is actually the official Disney fan club. In other words, if they’re confirming that the doctor will show up, he’s going to show up.

Set Photos

Set photos already hinted that this would happen, since we’ve seen Thor carrying around Stephen Strange’s address. The question is: will Strange actually leave New York City? Well, D23 makes it sound like that’s going to be the case, since the article clearly says the following:

"“If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new.”"

If you’ll recall, everyone’s favorite Asgardian went off to investigate the Infinity Stones at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, thereby excusing himself and the Hulk from having to show up in Captain America: Civil War. (Loki’s still around, though. Perhaps Thor is everyone’s second-favorite Asgardian.) In fact, Civil War even made sure to remind us all that we didn’t know where they were during the events of that movie in a line early on in the film.

Adding in Doctor Strange makes sense for Ragnarok, though, since he’s slated to also show up in Avengers: Infinity War. Best to give him some familiarity with the stones in question before a giant dangerous event actually comes to pass, right?
