19. Homeland – Showtime – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday & Sunday
Showtime is pulling an HBO here and replaying the entirety of an original series in time for New Year’s. Starting at 10:00 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, you can watch Seasons 4 and 5 (respectively) of Homeland from front to back on Showtime. That’s all 12 episodes in a season right after the other.
The lead character Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is bipolar, and working to find out if a recently-returned American war hero was flipped by the terror group Al-Qaeda, in order to pull off a massive terror plot from the inside out. It’s interesting to see how a show tackles mental illness in this way, especially since Carrie may be more correct about Marine Nicholas Brody than some actually think.
Some of the writers for this show also worked on 24 so the idea of connecting plots and intricate twists along the way is sure to keep you glued to your screen. The Emmy-winning series is back Jan. 15 with Season 6, and this time they’re heading for New York City, hoping to sniff out some potential ‘lone wolf’ terrorists. This marathon offers a great way for you to make sure you can catch up before proceeding.
