11. Bill de Blasio

Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York, has already expressed interest in national politics by pushing to bring the Democratic National Convention to New York City. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Hillary Clinton during her 2016 campaign, and he frequently criticized Donald Trump.

One of the issues that de Blasio has been particularly vocal about is that of immigration. He met with Trump to express concerns about the impact that immigration would have on the people of New York City. The mayor has also been firm in his stance against “stop and frisk” which would certainly score points with liberals. Improving relations between the New York Police Department and the Black and Hispanic communities has been one of de Blasio’s top priorities during his time as mayor. He has also worked to improve education and increase the availability of affordable housing.

Mayor de Blasio’s approval rating has been on the rise lately, and he has a loyal donor base which would come in handy should he decide to run for President in 2020. He’s also been very outspoken with criticism against Citizens United and has worked to prevent corporations from essentially “buying” elections. However, even with the support and with his political record, de Blasio may not be a strong enough contender against his rival, Andrew Cuomo.
