Golden Girls

I’ll admit, I’m probably the biggest Golden Girls fan there is. It doesn’t matter that this show has been off the air for over twenty years, or that I’m about 40 years younger then the age of its stars, it’s still one heck of a show.

For anyone living under a rock for the last two decades, Golden Girls is about four older women, living in a house together in Miami, navigating the third phase of their lives together. It capitalized on a magic between the women that has yet to be imitated or outdone. Its humor, politics, and relevancy is still as topical and worthy as it was when it debuted in 1985.

Sadly, all but one of its stars have passed away, so a reboot with the original characters is out of the question. But if Hollywood could recapture the female magic of the show in a reimagining, I’d be willing to get on board. It would be impossible to replace Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Betty White, and Estelle Getty, but it might be fun to take a look back at their origin stories, right?

Which of your favorite shows did I leave out, and which of these shows should Netflix or another outlet try and save?
