43. Her on Controlling Your Own Life

"I think that if you live long enough, you realize that so much of what happens in life is out of your control, but how you respond to it is in your control. That’s what I try to remember."

We can’t control life, that much has made itself clear throughout the years. We can’t control anything, we just have to let it all happen and hope for the best. With that same logic, we can navigate life and get through it all.

Or at least, that’s what Hillary is telling us. If we accept that we don’t have control of any of this, then we can live our lives with relative ease.

This quote is important because I think a lot of the time, we try and micromanage everything happening and we forget that it is all our of our control. For Hillary, I’m sure she thought that election was going to go extremely different.

But it didn’t and she realize that she couldn’t control it. She just had to accept it and respond as she thought best. Hillary Clinton is an amazingly strong woman and her reaction to the election and how brilliantly she took it continues to inspire us.
