25. Anyone Can be President

"To every little girl who dreams big: Yes, you can be anything you want — even president."

Every little girl out there watched as Hillary Clinton fought to be our next president. Many went with their mothers and fathers to the polls to vote for the first woman ever to be on the ticket as the Democratic nominee. I know that I sat in a room with my mom and hoped that I would be watching the first woman elected to the presidency with my mother.

It didn’t happen but that idea, that women can do anything is powerful and poignant. Hillary inspired us all to reach for our full potential. We can do whatever we put our minds to and nothing can stop us. Not even being a woman.

Many said “I would vote for a woman, just not for her” about Hillary but that is idiotic. They just didn’t want a woman in power. But we showed up and voted and proved that we’re ready for a woman to lead us. We showed that by having Hillary win the popular vote by almost 3 million votes.

But it is this quote, this idea that will inspire little girls from now until we have an equal playing field out there. We can do whatever we want, even be president.
