3. Colin Taking a Leap of Faith

For two days out of every year, we have the excuse to just take a leap of faith and not worry about anything going on around us. In Love Actually, Colin teaches us that. Yes, he’s going to the United States to try and find girls who will think he has a cute British accent, but he still does it.

Colin risks everything to go and follow his dream of finding love in the States. We can really learn something from that. If we just went for it and stopped second guessing everything, maybe we’d all be as happy as Colin ends up. After all, he does find a bunch of models in Wisconsin to live with.

But in the end, it is Colin’s fearlessness that makes us see how noble he really is. He is just willing to throw it all away to follow this half baked idea. He could so easily end up broke and stuck in the United States with nothing. But that doesn’t stop him because he has a goal, and he is sticking to his guns.

So in the New Year, try to be a little more like Colin. Maybe don’t be quite as reckless. Perhaps just go out and do something you’ve always wanted to.
