Scream Queens

Scream Queens makes me miss Halloween. Sure, Christmas is nice, blah blah blah, but nothing is better than a good ol’ gorefest with emotionally stunted mean girls and a hunky John Stamos in a lab coat.

Season 2 of Scream Queens finds the Chanels working in a hospital for lost causes and a lot of weird and creepy patients come through those doors. Truthfully, the plot isn’t all that important and is just secondary to the campy TV conceits, amazing wardrobe, and dexterous insults and name-calling.

If you are a tender spirit and don’t love to see folks be belittled and deprecated under blistering put-downs and invective, then you shouldn’t bother with this. If there was an awards show for jerks who like feather coats, Emma Roberts would deserve to be nominated in every category. She makes a scathing antagonist, and leave it to Ryan Murphy to create a character that we actively hate and root against.

But don’t we need this right now? If you have spent every holiday too scared to tell cousin Gladys off when she asks you why you’re still single, then you can just channel the Chanels. She’ll never want to sit next to you at dinner ever again.
