Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls will just make you feel good. It’s not cranky or cantankerous, it’s not social satire or parody, it’s just fun. Even better: it’s fun you can have all on your own, on your couch, drinking wine straight from the bottle with zero judgment from your mean aunt.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last two  months, you might have missed the pop culture juggernaut starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel that is Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. It’s a reboot/catch up of the popular series of the early aughts that follows young, single mom, Lorelai Gilmore, as she raised her bookish daughter in a quaint, eccentric small town.

I was an insane fan of this show when it aired way back when, so this new reboot was like a Christmas present just for me. Technically, it aired the day after Thanksgiving, so I spent that entire Friday wearing stretchy pants, in a food coma, binge watching my favorite show.

Feeling a little raw from this most recent holiday, I think I might rewatch it. But maybe I won’t watch the winter episode  — with its idyllic scenes of snowscapes and adorable cozy hats and scarfs. Nah, I think I’ll just skip straight to summer, and fantasize of the days when I won’t have to dispose of a dying fir tree and put away three boxes of wrapping paper.
