5. Idina Menzel & Michael Buble

He’s the King of Christmas. She’s the (Ice) Queen of Stage and Screen. Put them together and you have a delightful take on “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” Idina Menzel and Michael Buble’s version of the song even changes some of the words (“The answer is no” is now “Thanks for the show”) and has a video featuring children to make the song a little more family friendly. (But it’s also still slightly creepy hearing such a deep voice come from a small child.)

The whole song and video combo is full of joy. The song did come from a movie and this version capitalizes on that by creating a story. It feels very old Hollywood with the glamour and the dance numbers, but because they’re are children it also feels young and fun. These kids are talented too. They manage to dance and lip sync while hamming it up all the while.

We can’t forget the actual singers here either. Buble’s voice sounds so rich and warm; he’s never better than when he is covering these Christmas classics. Menzel doesn’t really get a chance to belt, but she too is as flawless as ever. They just make such a perfect duo with their strong, bright sound.
