21. Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce

This series, one of the few scripted ones you can find on Bravo, stars Lisa Edelstein as Abby McCarthy. Abby’s line of work is writing books advising women on how to get through life, presenting them as the kind of advice you’d get from a friend. (They are, in fact, real books. Author Vicki Iovine actually serves as an executive producer on the series.)

Although Abby’s life seems idyllic, things all come crashing down on her really quickly when the cracks in her life and her marriage start showing. All of a sudden, she’s facing a divorce, a sharply plummeting public image…and the opportunity to explore some different sides of life. It has a lot of comedic elements as well as the expected drama.

As the above trailer suggests, this one isn’t for young children either, though it only sports a TV-14 rating. In other words, you’ll see some people in lingerie and hear some adult language.

Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce has one of the highest commitment ratings on this list, since there are currently 26 45-minute episodes available. That’s about 20 hours of viewing. However, if you spread it out over the four days and watch 5 or 6 episodes a day, you could pull it off. Additionally, a third season kicks off on January 11.
