Ozzy Osbourne – The Osbournes

Don’t pretend you didn’t watch Ozzy & Co. on MTV when his reality show aired in the early aughts. We were all completely enthralled to watch the King of Metal being a husband, a dad, and a downright weirdo.

Before his show on MTV, all we knew about Ozzy was that he was a hard core rocker, famous for his booze, drugs, and biting the head off a bat. If anybody told me I’d be watching him shuffle around in his house shoes every week, calling for Sharon to help him open a jar, I would have never believed you.

The success of the show is evidence that we were all just completely and morbidly curious about what Ozzy was like off-stage. We came for the free gawks, but we stayed because Ozzy turned out to be a regular ol’ dude. I mean, not really regular, like average or anything. He was kind of wacky and his whole life situation was absurd. But he wasn’t maiming flying mammals or snorting ants off the kitchen table or anything. It really wasn’t the let down that it sounds like. Turns out, in real life-Ozzy was far more entertaining than stage-Ozzy.
