Drama Queen in ‘Attack of the Clones’ (Credit: Lucasfilm)
Adolescent Anakin Skywalker
This guy sucks in the same way a paper cut stings no matter how small it is. It exists, and therefore, it is terrible.
Let me tell you why.
On the spectrum of Star Wars likeability, the prequels are in a category all by themselves. Where The Phantom Menace is the total worst and Revenge of the Sith is slightly more watchable, Attack of the Clones sits somewhere in the middle as a heinous crime against humanity with some interesting parts, like the end. No, not when the credits rolled. I mean, all the Geonosis scenes.
But everything before that included a young Anakin Skywalker who cannot for the love of the Force and everything that matters in the Star Wars universe do anything to control his arrogance or anger in the face of galactic war or in the presence of a senator who happens to look like Natalie Portman.
Think about it: He hates sand (seriously, I’ll never let this go), he slaughters women and children, he’s reckless and he talks to Padme as if they are peers. He doesn’t respect her position in the senate or even the Republic as a whole. So, why be a Jedi at all? While we already knew he’d become Darth Vader, by age 19, his Dark Side cup was already overflowing.
Seriously, he acted like a crybaby. This is probably what happens when you have too many midi-chlorians. You can’t even control your own hormones.
