Heidi’s not here! HEIDI KLUM HAS FAILED TO SHOW UP FOR WORK. There have been many seasons where Zac Posen and Nian Garcia have failed to show up for work, but even at her more pregnant, Heidi has *always* shown up, rain or shine. This is after all, *her* show (along with Tim Gunn.) But that’s ok, because she’s here via the fanciest version of Skype ever, which is certainly more than anyone else has ever bother to do. Heidi, moving heaven, earth and technology to judge Project Runway. But that only brings us to the man helping her out. For their fifteenth season the show has brought back the Queen of Tangerines himself! Michael Kors, who is here to school Zac Posen on what a real zinger about an outfit looks like. (The contestants go wild, as well they should.)

In short: TONIGHT JUST BECAME DELICIOUS. Let’s get to the runway.

(Check back mid morning for images of all outfits that walked tonight.)

His first outfit is two pieces that have nothing to do with each other and horrid sneakers. The second outfit at least feels cohesive. But how those skirts relates to the coral tie waisted pasts in beyond me. Kors loves the opening outfit. But Heidi is bored. Zac calls the skirts sparkle trash bags. Roberi is very defensive, until Nina joins Kors and starts talking about the direction he was going at the end of the regular season, which was taking looks like these and making them luxe, and that that is what is missing. That seems to get through.

The first piece is shaped like an egg and covered in sequins. The maxi dress looks like it was painted in summer camp, and the last is a top and skirt that should not have been paired together, even though both are individually awesome. Nina calls the maxi dress left field. Kors hates her accessories. He, like the others, is bowed over by her egg designs with the schmutz all over it. The judges want her to go that way, and tell her so.

Her first is the short jumpsuit which looks like a dingy work suit from a dystopian novel. The second  outfit, which is white pants and the french summer jacket are divine. Somehow connecting them are a pair of white throwaways that look like high end streetwear. It’s really random. Kors outright makes fun of the first outfit, saying that at least the other two are at least in the same world. Zac rushes to her defense saying this is the best tailoring he’s seen since joining the show.

The unending art pattern is too much in the first piece–the black mini isn’t enough to visually break it up. The second red and blue outfit is really cute though. The third piece, which is the denim embroidery is also too much in one outfit. It desperately needs to be broken up, or opened up or something. Heidi once again doesn’t see the cohesion, and says the best one is the red and blue. Kors agrees, it’s a dance on the table dress. Everyone agrees the denim need to be cut open and shortened. Nina *hates* the glasses.

Michael Kors gives the best lecture at the end, talking about how his show is 11 minutes long and people know what he’s about. They have a tenth of that time to introduce themselves and show what they’re about. I miss him Project Runway. Can we bring him round more often? Sadly no–next week, the NYFW finale will feature Disney graduate fashionista Zendaya instead.
