16. She knows when to unleash her anger

Newsflash: Lord Bolton is a coward. He hides behind sharp, pointy spears and gigantic hounds in order to get his way. Plus, he’s not above carelessly tossing the head of Rickon’s beloved direwolf Shaggydog at the feet of his siblings (“Battle of the Bastards”). This all happens at the parley before the battle, and this act of tremendous cruelty isn’t lost on Sansa. A direwolf is the symbol of her house, and Lord Bolton disrespected that. You can see the fury behind her eyes as her gaze drifts from Shaggydog to Ramsay’s smug face. Then, she delivers the brutal line, “You’re going to die tomorrow, Lord Bolton. Sleep well.”

It’s moments like this where you can see just how smart Sansa is. Ramsay wanted a horrified or angry reaction from her. Instead, she makes things as blunt and to the point for him. You can even see the shock on Ramsay’s face when he hears her tone.

Sansa rarely loses her temper. She’s able to keep the anger in check because it would just come off as a sign of weakness if she let the curses fly. In a world where Sansa’s on a mission to fight for her family’s survival, it’s best not to show your enemies your weak points, or that you have buttons to be pushed. And guess who was on the receiving end of all of Sansa’s anger?
