10. Supreme Leader Snoke

At this point, very little is known about Supreme Leader Snoke. But the parts that we do know are very important. Especially since they lead to Han Solo’s death.

As the only member of the Sith (that we know of) opposite Luke, Supreme Leader Snoke seduced Kylo Ren / Ben Solo to the Dark Side, which eventually led to the rise of the Knights of Ren and the death of Luke’s Jedi students. Further, Supreme Leader Snoke leads the First Order, so he has power over both Kylo Ren and General Hux.

While we don’t know the character’s true identity, there are several theories surrounding Snoke’s origins. Some hold more water than others. Though, if he is a new character, he’s obviously very good at what he does. If he’s someone we’ve met before in other mediums (or in Revenge of the Sith, if you buy the Darth Plageius theory), then he’s just another villain playing the long game.

After the Battle of Endor, the Empire crumbled but wasn’t wiped out entirely. From the ashes, the First Order rose. Eventually, Snoke learned of Ben Solo and set out to bring him to the Dark Side. Although, it does seem like a lot of Kylo Ren’s motivations are guided by his misplaced faith in Darth Vader’s legacy. Obviously, Darth Vader ended up killing the Emperor in Return of the Jedi.

In Episode VIII, we’ll see Snoke intensify Kylo Ren’s training, and hopefully, learn more secrets as to who he is and where he came from.

And, of course, whether he’s really that large.
