After the initial introduction to Holly, the audience is begging to know more. And we just continue to get glimpses of this elusive beauty. First of all, the way she sleeps. Even that is intriguing and makes you  want to question everything about her.

Holly sleeps with a beautiful eye mask and tasseled ear plugs so that she doesn’t wake up unless she wants to. On more than one occasion, she still wears them even as Paul is trying to talk to her.

What is amazing about this first real glimpse into Holly is that it shows the side of her that wants the nice things. She is a girl who wants the alligator shoes and the fancy clothes. Holly Golightly wants the life of the rich and famous but she just goes about it all in completely the wrong way.

And while you learn about her phony nature later on in the film, this first look at her shows how truly closed off she is from the world around her. She does what she has to to life the kind of life she wants and then she secludes herself away. Before Paul came into her life, she would just make her money at night by tricking men into giving her their money and then sleep through the day.
