Tunes for Tuesday: OK Go “The One Moment”

OK Go just released a new, visually stunning video for their song ‘The One Moment’ and it’s literally bursting with color!

In this week’s Tunes for Tuesday, we watch as the guys from OK Go wow us yet again with a series of perfectly timed events in their new music video “The One Moment”. The events of the video only takes 4.2 seconds to unfold but once slowed way, way down a full-length music video is revealed before your awestruck eyes.

The inspiration behind the video comes from the band’s desire to celebrate those special moments in life that are fleeting. Change happens whether any of us really want it or not and nothing could be more relevant than the events that have unfolded in 2016.

"“For the video, we tried to represent this idea literally — we shot it in a single moment. We constructed a moment of total chaos and confusion, and then unraveled that moment, discovering the beauty, wonder, and structure within.”"

OK Go notes that this video sets a different tone than what they normally represent. Its still fun and full of surprises but the overall message is a bit different. If you watch closely you’ll see a cameo from the Morton Salt Girl. Morton has partnered with OK Go for the #walkherwalk campaign to inspire us all to make positive changes in our Nation and the world.

"Most of our videos have sought to deliver wonder and surprise, and this one is no exception. But usually our tone has been more buoyant, more exuberant. For this song — our most heartfelt and sincere — we wanted the sense of wonder to be more intimate and contemplative."

OK Go is known for their whimsical, gravity defying, one-take music videos and this one took a lot of planning and precision. There were a total of 318 events that occurred (colored salt bursting, paint buckets exploding, water balloons popping) and they were all perfectly synchronized to the music. The whole feat is impressive.
