Earth Bound by Emma Barry and Genevieve Turner

Astronauts. Engineers. Human computers. Barry and Turner’s gorgeous Fly Me to the Moon series is mid-century space race romance and you need it in your life immediately. Earth Bound is book three in this series, but it works as a standalone, and holy crap just read it now, okay?

This book is set in 1961 Houston. Our hero is gruff lead engineer Eugene Parsons, who reluctantly hires brilliant computer scientist Charlie Eason to join his team. He isn’t reluctant because she’s a woman, exactly, but because she’s a distraction, and Eugene doesn’t do distraction. Charlie, a heroine who already has enough on her plate proving herself to the men of the space program (and who is plenty gruff herself), isn’t interested in the added problems of a relationship. But neither Charlie nor Eugene can fight the irresistible attraction between them, and soon they are balancing a secret affair and the stress of trying to beat Russia to the moon.

The writing in this series is fantastic, and the dual tensions of the space race and the race for love will suck you right in.
