Will Smith

We’ve grown up with Will Smith. We all watched him go from the fun-loving and funny (and obviously talented) Fresh Prince to a mature and surprisingly serious actor. He still drops top selling albums from time to time, but lately he’s spent time on serious roles like Ali and forensic pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu in the eye-opening movie Concussion. Lately he’s had his eye on current events and announced a couple of times he thinks he needs to step up. He told CBS News

"If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena."

Not long after, he said to the Hollywood reporter,

"As I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me. They might need me out there."

He has since said he was joking, but let’s implore to his better angels and hope he takes the plunge.

Quotes:

"Racism isn’t getting worse, it’s getting filmed."

"America’s the only place on earth that I could exist. No other country on earth produces Will Smiths, you know? If you look back historically, of how black people have had it on the planet, America is elevating quite well, based on the history of our people."
