Harry Potter

Harry Potter has been at the forefront of this election season and for good reason. Donald Trump has been compared to Voldemort more times than not. Again, for good reason. The Harry Potter generation grew up reading about a world torn apart when an evil man rose to power and had to be taken down by three kids.

While the three kids part wasn’t a part of the election, the evil man rising to power was definitely present. Plus the series has a whole underlying theme of the Ministry of Magic falling to Voldemort and having politics super involved in the storyline as a whole.

Especially with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The president of MACUSA steps in and Graves sentences Newt and Tina to the death penalty. It is very heavy handed on the political side of things to the point where you can’t really escape it.

Harry Potter is also unapologetic about its connection to politics. It has always been very clear that they played a part in the storyline and Rowling followed through by connecting the magical world to real life political roles (the Minister of Magic has to meet with the Prime Minister). Sorry folks, politics are important in Harry Potter. Get over it.
