Game of Thrones
Well folks, this one is a bigger. If you thought Game of Thrones was clear of political ramblings, again, what are you watching? A show based on multiple people vying for a throne just screams out politics. And that is definitely what the show is about.
The entirety of Game of Thrones is for everyone to try and gain what they believe is rightfully theirs. Yes they drink heavily and have sex with people along the way but that isn’t what matters on the show. What matters is the political standings and who has the throne.
Game of Thrones is one of those series that people probably think that maybe it doesn’t have to do with real life politics and that is technically true. But there are still political undertones in the series and you can surely connect some of our current political figures to characters on the show.
It is one of those catch-22 type situations. Yes, politics exist in this world but they’re of the fictional variety. While that’s true, it is still politics in a world where everything seems to be about politics.
The next time someone says that the politics in Game of Thrones are different than real life, tell them that you agree with them. But also tell them that politics don’t change enough to change an entire world view on them.
