Ah yes, another political drama starring Canadian born Kiefer Sutherland as an American hero saving the world one step at a time in the political arena. Key word in that whole sentence was definitely Canadian.

In reality, Designated Survivor is just another show that proves we love politics more than we like to let on. How is that clear? Because this is the second show where Kiefer Sutherland has to save America while he himself not even being American. We have to get the Canadians to help us out. (Please Justin Trudeau, adopt us!)

But Designated Survivor is a fantastic show that teaches us Americans what it truly is to be American. And what’s scary is how accurate the episodes have been for the current political climate of this country.

In the show, the episode after the election, Tom Kirkman (Sutherland) gives a speech about how he might not be the right man for the job and that even he thinks he’s unqualified but he believes in America. Really makes you think about how we currently elected a man who doesn’t know anything about politics and who is terrible and evil and Voldemort but how America itself is strong.

Basically it is a great show about politics so maybe, if you’re tired of them, don’t tune in.
