29. Jessica Jones- Jessica Jones

Next up: Jessica Jones. The second season of Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, is going to feature ONLY female writers. Yeah, you heard that right. Showrunner Melissa Rosenburg is incredibly proud to push these boundaries. She says when she looks for writers, she doesn’t look at your professional experience, she looks at your personal experience. “When I interview a writer, I’m less interested in what you’ve been doing professionally than I am in where you’re from, what your parents do, what’s your life experience, what are you bringing to the table personally?” Rosenberg tells Variety. “I don’t want a bunch of people who look and sound [like me] and have the experiences I have.”

And you can tell. Rosenburg has created a TV show that fills a genre gap of a female heroine who’s damaged, not confident, and struggling. Jessica Jones is such a real portrayal of a woman that you can’t help but get addicted to. I’m excited to see where season 2 takes us.
