30. Sweet/Vicious
Let’s talk Sweet/Vicious, which just premiered its first season on MTV. This show was created by Jenn Kaytin Robinson and stars Eliza Bennett and Taylor Dearden as the leads, Jules and Ophelia.
The two meet under odd circumstances and together, are taking a stand against sexual assault on their campus, an issue all too real right now. This show is Scream Queens meets Dexter, but a million times better because the two leads are so damn relatable, it’s scary. They’re both confident in their own skin but have a unique and subtle vulnerability to them. A friendship match made in heaven. If the rest of the season is anything like the pilot, then I’m in for an ass-kicking, female-heavy new favorite show.
Robinson is glad she wrote this show and how it’s stepping up to make campus sexual assault a topic of conversation. “It’s been amazing to see that the consciousness has kind of collided with the premiere of the show,” she told Backstage. “We’re trying to shine a spotlight on what is happening with sexual assault, how it is being handled. We want this to be fun and we want this to be kickass…but we also hope it educates some people.”
