We need people like Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) on TV more than ever right now. After a devastating presidential election, a known homophobe is about to be the vice president of our country. Some people identifying as LGBTQ+ are confident as hell in their sexuality. Although upset about Mike Pence coming into office, they’re out and they’re proud. But what about the people who aren’t as vocal, who aren’t as confident, who aren’t as sure. What about them?

Alex Danvers story line this season is important because it’s highlighting one of those people- someone who is still questioning. At this point in time, and you’re questioning your sexuality with a soon to be homophobic VP and half the country saying that you don’t matter, I’m telling you right now that you matter. There’s no other way to put it. We need stories like this one to give us any ounce of hope that’s left.
