Another Sunday another B-list red carpet as the American Music Awards (the AMAs) 2016 allow the stars to parade around in what passes for their very best.

The American Music Awards, otherwise known as that B-list production Dick Clark made up back in the 70s when the Grammys decamped from ABC, may not be the classiest of joints. it’s not the A-list red carpet of the Grammys. Unlike it’s openly trashier cousins the MTV Awards, it’s not really able to to go full camp. Unlike the Country Music Awards the other week, it can’t go full kitsch either. It’s an award show trapped in between identities, and the red carpet reflects that.

What we end up with, therefore in a mish mosh of teenaged and early 20 somethings pop stars aimed for the 8-13 year olds market, mixed with a few near geezerly has beens who are thankful to be invited anywhere, and filled out with those who are pushing the hell out of projects, which may or may not be related to the music business. Their outfits are made to match: the young dress to look older, the old dress embarrassingly young and those in between try not to make any major faux pas.

With these factors in mind, let’s run down the best, worst and silliest looks of the evening.
