Catelyn Stark

The romance on Game of Thrones isn’t exactly #relationshipgoals. Ned and Catelyn may arguably have had the healthiest romantic relationship, and even they had their problems. Namely, Ned took his sister’s dying wish a little too seriously, and lied to his wife for the entirety of their marriage. I mean, when push comes to shove, Ned probably could have been honest with Catelyn about Jon’s parentage. It’s a moot point now, but this may go down in entertainment history as the next “Jack and Rose both could have fit on that door.”

Despite this snag, Catelyn and Ned’s arranged marriage grew to a very real love. They trust and protect each other, which is noted significantly when Catelyn pulls a medieval citizen’s arrest and takes Tyrion Lannister as her prisoner. When Jaime confronts Ned, the latter takes responsibility to protect Catelyn from the repercussions. They protect each other no matter what.

Their love for one another is so clear within the show and it is heartbreaking once Ned is gone. Catelyn has to watch the destruction of her own family and it, in end, leads to her giving up because she can’t handle watching everyone she loves die before her very eyes.
