Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has hit theaters and already fans want to know what is going to happen in the next movie!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is here and fans all over the world are rejoicing over their favorite franchise returning. And it helps that he movie is absolutely magical! Following Newt Scamander, a magizoologist who wants to protect the magical creatures of the world, the story picks up as Newt gets to New York City.

We discover that he is trying to return the thunderbird back to his home in Arizona. Unfortunately Newt never makes it there. He ends up trapped in a war of sorts between the non magical people of New York City and the witches and the wizards that reside there.

MACUSA (The Magical Congress of the United States of America) is trying to keep the peace and Newt’s arrival does the opposite. He causes mayhem and everything is blamed on him when, in fact, it is Graves (who is secretly Grindelwald) who is behind everything.

The story is filled with twists and turns that many fans didn’t see coming, especially the reveal of who Percival Graves really was. And so, we have some predictions for the next film. We don’t know if any of them are going to be true but hey, we can all hope!

1. Gellert Grindelwald Escapes

Gellert Grindelwald is the man who started it all. He paved the way for wizards like Voldemort to rise to power and take over the wizarding world. And from what we saw of him in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, he is almost worse than Voldemort himself.

In the film, Grindelwald is seen only amidst destruction. Both times we see him, he is watching the decline of whatever it is he has caused. With Newt, we would’ve have ever known Graves was, in fact, Grindelwald if it wasn’t for Newt catching it.

Before they take away Percival Graves, Newt calls out a spell to reveal Graves’s true nature. So Grindelwald says “You think you can hold me?” and gets ushered away and it makes us believe that he will, in fact, escape.

It is not really a prediction but more like something we all know is going to happen. He is going to escape and Newt is going to have to fight against Grindelwald once more. It is a constant theme in Harry Potter after all. Those you think you have vanquished aren’t really gone. There is always some way for them to come back. But we know that Newt can take him, we’ve watched it happen.

2. Porpentina Ends Up Going With Newt

At the end of the movie, we watched Porpentina give Newt the title for his book before he boarded the boat back to England. Though it makes absolutely no sense for Newt to take a boat (he is a wizard, he can just apparate places), the scene was adorable and gave us a look at how Tina and Newt feel about each other.

The movie is marred with the idea that Newt is still in love with Leda Lestrange so when Tina asks him about her, he tells her that he is changed. And then there is an adorable back and forth when he asks if she’d like to receive her copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in person.

So, from what we can tell, this first movie is not the end to their relationship. In fact, we’re almost sure that she’ll go with him to Paris in the sequel. She is once again an auror for MACUSA and it would make sense, if Serapina allowed it, for Tina to accompany Mr. Scamander and help him with his beasts.

That and fans just want to see where their relationship takes us. It is adorable and watching Newt try and talk to a girl is amazing.

3. Queenie and Jacob Are Together and He Remembers Everything

The end of the movie gave us a look at this but there is just something about Queenie and Jacob that is fantastic in itself. The two are so in love by the end and though we think that Jacob forgets everything, we see that he can remember a little of the magical time he had with Newt, Tina, and Queenie.

Jacob, a no maj, is obliviated with the rest of New York City after the obscurus went on a rampage. Queenie gave him a kiss and sent him on his way. It was sad because Jacob was all of us. We wanted to live in the magical world and he loved everything about Newt and his friends.

But they didn’t leave him high and dry. They gave him the means for his bakery and then we discovered that he remembered all of Newt’s beasts. That and he got to see Queenie once more. So, we believe that Queenie and Jacob will come to Newt’s aide once more.

Jacob is fiercely loyal and will do anything for Newt (we saw that in the movie) and I truly think he’d come back to help his wizard friend. But not without his love Queenie.

4. Dumbledore Goes To America

We got a mention of our beloved Dumbledore during Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Graves was interrogating Newt and talked about his education and what happened at Hogwarts. We learned that Albus Dumbledore, a then professor, fought to keep Newt from getting expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Clearly, it didn’t work, but we know that Newt and Dumbledore are close. Dumbledore wanted to protect him and keep him at school. So he probably knew about Newt’s adventures in America long before we knew that Graves was, in fact, Grindelwald.

It is that fact that makes us believe that Dumbledore will go to America to try and take Grindelwald to Azkaban. Surely Grindelwald will escape before Dumbledore arrives but it will still bring us a view we never thought we’d see. We’ll get Dumbledore on American soil!

It’s already been announced that Dumbledore will have a more important role in the sequel so we’re definitely going to see more of him in the franchise. We just think it would be pretty amazing to see Dumbledore alive and well in New York City trying to find where Grindelwald had escaped to. That and Dumbledore travelling with Newt would be amazing too.

5. Newt Finds The Real Graves

At the end of the film, it is revealed that Percival Graves is not who we think he is. He is Gellert Grindelwald in disguise so that he can find the obscurus. But that then opens the door to an entirely new question: Where is the real Percival Graves?

All we know about Graves is that he was an auror who worked with Tina and worked for Seraphina Picquery. Other than that, everything else was a lie. It was just Grindelwald acting out his evil plan to reveal the wizarding world to the muggles. So, what did Grindelwald do to the original Graves?

It could be a Mad-Eye Moody situation where Graves is in a case somewhere and no one knows he’s there or he could’ve killed him. At this point, people were more concerned about Grindelwald than the man whose face and life he was stealing.

So, now, we ask where the real Percival Graves is. Maybe Newt will find him in his travels in Paris. Or maybe he’ll come back for Tina and discover that Graves is back working for MACUSA. We do think that the real Graves will be discovered in some way or another and here’s to hoping that he’s alive and well!

6. Credence Isn’t Dead and Joins Newt

Credence Barebone is an exceptionally sad character for the Harry Potter universe. The son of magical parents, he is orphaned and his adoptive mother is an evil woman who hates magic and beats him. This repression of his magical abilities creates an obscurus within Credence and he ends up lashing out when the man who was supposed to be helping him (Graves) hits him and calls him basically worthless.

Credence then lashes out and all but destroys New York City as the obscurus. The wizards end up cleaning it all up but Credence is killed in the process. Or so we think. At the end of the movie, Newt looks up to see a part of the obscurus flying away and it leads us to believe that Mr. Barebone is not dead.

And if he isn’t? He’d definitely help Tina and Newt. Tina was the woman who showed him that he was special and saved him when no one else would (and it ended up costing Tina her job). So we believe that Credence is alive and comes to help Newt and Tina in Paris, or he at least is seen in the next film proving that he isn’t dead.

7. We Get To Meet A Young Tom Marvolo Riddle

The first Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set in 1926, the year that Tom Marvolo Riddle was born. So, our prediction is that we will get to meet this boy in some way in the sequel. It is to be set in 1928 meaning that a two year old Lord Voldemort could make his way onto our screens.

Though we might not see him until Dumbledore meets him as a child, there is still a hope that we’ll get a glimpse into a very young Voldemort. Maybe Grindelwald will seek him out to make sure the child will grow into the dark wizard we know he becomes.

Even if it is just a child running past and someone yelling Tom, it would still be amazing to see young Voldemort. We’ve seen him at age eleven, we’ve seen him in Hogwarts, but toddler Voldemort? Is there ever an innocence to him or is he always the evil we know he becomes?

There is definitely going to be a time in the series when Voldemort is there. It just feels as if we would be missing out of there wasn’t a moment with Voldemort. Whether that is just fleeting or just the mention of his name, we don’t know, but we still should get some kind of Lord Voldemort in the series.

8. The Niffler Tries To Steal French Jewels

The best part of the film was the niffler, hands down. This little platypus looking thing was out for riches and he wouldn’t let anything stop him. Not even Newt. Or the fact that he was a living breathing animal pretending to be a necklace holder.

He was great because all he wanted was gold and jewels. He literally broke into a department store and then pretended like he wasn’t in there so Newt wouldn’t see him. Plus he’s pretty adorable! So, with Newt going to Paris, a city rich with jewels from ages of past, we just know the niffler is going to find himself in a lot of trouble.

Granted, he probably won’t be a huge part of the next movie but that doesn’t mean he’ll be gone forever. And in a city filled with crowns and jewels that are extremely rare and worth a lot of money? You can bet he’s going to get into a lot of trouble and cause Newt a lot of heartache.

The niffler stole so many things in New York City and they’re not even worth half of what one of those crowns are so we think that the niffler might just end up trying to take a crown.

9. We See Hogwarts

Knowing that Dumbledore is meant to be in the sequel and that there will be a return to Europe, we think that we’ll get to see Hogwarts. Whether it is just Dumbledore’s office or some part of the beloved school, Hogwarts has to be involved in some way.

We got a little sneak peek of the school pride that each wizarding kid has. Queenie was proud to have gone to Ilvermorny and Newt praised Hogwarts for being the best school in the world. So, maybe we’ll see both schools. We only got mentions this time around but there should be a scene when the professors of the schools must talk about what is happening.

That way we can experience what Ilvermorny is like and get to see the place we all call home. Because really, who doesn’t want to see what Hogwarts was like in the 1920s? And it would give us an excuse to see Dumbledore there. He is meant to be in the sequel so why not give us some Hogwarts while they are focusing on him?

We might not get to see the school at all in the five films but we can hope they’ll let us go back home!

10. Newt Scamander See Leda Lestrange Again

There is a picture of Leda Lestrange in Newt’s shed and Queenie learns all about her as she reads his mind. In a show of vulnerability from Newt, we see that he used to be friends with Leda at school before his expulsion. They were two outcasts who grew close because they only had each other. One without the other was just alone.

And that’s how he left Leda when he got expelled because of his beasts. When asked about her, Newt talks about how he hasn’t seen her and doesn’t know what is happening with her. Queenie talks about how her family has a bad reputation so maybe they will meet again. It just might not be the Leda that Newt remembers.

If she’s anything like her family, maybe she turns to the dark part of the wizarding world and Newt has to fight his once closest friend. Or, maybe she was killed and he doesn’t know. Or better yet, maybe she’s good and is working at Hogwarts!

We don’t know anything about Leda, just that she is a Lestrange and that Newt was once friends with her. But according to Yates, that isn’t the end to Leda so we can’t wait to see what is in store for her and Newt!
