Since most of us do not even get to see William and Kate as parents, we really never saw Elizabeth and Philip as parents to Charles, Anne, Andrew, or Edward. So seeing Philip interact with Charles is something amazing about the show.

The two have a wonderful relationship, Charles running after his father and wanting to be close to Philip. It is adorable and everything we wanted out of a piece on the young Elizabeth and Philip. But there is also a side to Philip as a father that is interesting.

Philip primarily takes care of the children. He is the one who is there while Elizabeth governs. But he also tends to yell at Charles a bit more when he doesn’t want to fish properly or do things that are ‘manly’. There was a scene when he says that their children are flipped round. That Charles acts like a girl and Anne acts like a boy.

Though he said it as a joke, it is still a shock to hear Philip say it after having cared for and loved his children so deeply. But it is still a wonderful thing to see Philip and Charles together. The scenes are amazing and show us a glimpse into what that father and son dynamic could be.
