The Commonwealth Tour

The Commonwealth Tour in The Crown is amazing because it shows Elizabeth in action but also gives us a glimpse into the relationship between Elizabeth and those who work closest to her. She had to organize the tour and make sure she stopped in the appropriate places and it was clear how much help she needed doing so.

The thing about the tour is that we, the audience, got to see Elizabeth going out and seeing all these different countries while also trying to be strong. She went and spoke and tried to make her power known but it also showed how much everything was weighing down on her.

In the first tour, she ended up having to leave early because her father had died. Philip tried to make it special for her and it ended up with a tragic ending for the then princess. The second tour didn’t seem to workout much better for the two since they were captured screaming at each other while Elizabeth threw things at him.

The Commonwealth tours just give us a glimpse into how Elizabeth has to govern. We get to see her visiting other countries and it is quite amazing. Especially the elephants.
