2. Leia in Jabba’s Palace
Like it or not, and many people do not like it anymore, Leia’s palace bikini outfit has become embedded in pop culture. In fact, it actually has its own Wikipedia article.
Unlike most of Leia’s other outfits, it is incredibly revealing, to put it mildly. In general her costume’s necklines tend toward modesty, and she doesn’t show any leg.
However, this isn’t an outfit she picked herself. When she wears this, she’s Jabba the Hutt’s slave, the one he forces to sit with him and close to him. She exists, to him, as something for his pleasure, visually speaking, so of course she doesn’t get to conceal her form.
Also, because we’d be remiss not to repeat it, Carrie Fisher herself has said this of the slave outfit, with this quote coming from Dressing a Galaxy:
"“It was the bikini from hell. Like steel, not steel, but hard plastic, and if you stood behind me you could see straight to Florida. You’ll have to ask Boba Fett about that” (143)."
Of course, just because her outfit is a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen does not mean that Leia Organa can’t get in on the action. Before Luke even makes it to the pleasure barge, she’s strangled Jabba with the chain attached to her neck.
