31. Jyn Erso, Rebel Recruit

What’s interesting about Jyn is that she doesn’t dress like our typical Star Wars lady protagonists. Granted, we only have three other examples, but all of them tend towards relatively light palettes, particularly for action scenes. Jyn, meanwhile, shows up wearing darker clothes, a dark combat vest, and has pouches everywhere. Her belt is even worn at an angle.

In other words, she kind of dresses like Han Solo or Poe Dameron (when he’s on Jakku and a prisoner) rather than other women in Star Wars do. Her clothes approach form-fitting, but they aren’t skin tight like Padmé’s action outfit in AOTC, and nor are they anywhere even close to white or the natural tones that Leia and Rey favor.

Jyn doesn’t just say she rebels, she actually rebels against what Star Wars ladies wear when they’re about to get into some action.

Remind us not to mess with her.
