From The Phantom Menace to The Force Awakens, from A New Hope to Rogue One, Star Wars has some famous costumes. Let’s look at the top 50.

With Rogue One on its way and The Force Awakens grossing over $1 billion worldwide, one could describe the buzz around Star Wars as galactic-sized, if you’ll pardon the pun. Even with the original trilogy, though, the costumes of the series have produced some of the most recognizable silhouettes in film and in pop culture as a whole.

Some costumes, however, are a bit more famous than others. We’ve gone through the seven main films, will include a Rogue One look or two for additional flavor, and have assembled a list of the 50 most iconic looks or costumes in all of Star Wars. (Yes, that means no costumes from Star Wars Rebels or The Clone Wars.)

A note: we chose not to include the three droids. R2-D2, C-3PO, and BB-8 are just as famous as their humanoid counterparts. However, we don’t think of them so much as costumes, even though Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, and Jimmy Vee play the roles of Threepio and Artoo respectively.

For ease, we’ll use the common abbreviations for the main series films, as follows:

  • TPMThe Phantom Menace
  • AOTCAttack of the Clones
  • ROTS: Revenge of the Sith
  • ANH: A New Hope
  • TESB: The Empire Strikes Back
  • ROTJ: Return of the Jedi
  • TFA: The Force Awakens

That all being said, let’s begin.
