17. Marco Rubio and Trump’s Tiny Hands

If you thought that defending your ability to stab people was the lowest level of political discourse in this election, you’re probably mistaken. With so many Republican candidates vying for the nomination, it’s no surprise that the competition caused a lot of tension. Since Donald Trump has a tendency to nickname his opponents with such names as Lyin’ Ted or Little Marco, former candidate Marco Rubio aimed a little lower. Trump’s “hands” to be precise.

As a response to being called out for his height, Rubio turned attention to Trump’s body instead. “Have you seen his hands? And you know what they say about men with small hands. You can’t trust them,” joked Rubio. Rather than a back-and-forth about policy or qualifications, it turned into a petty comparison of physical size.

Whether intentionally or not, the jab was a sore spot for Trump. So, like we all probably expected, Trump decided to take a step further down from innuendo and actually defend the “something else” Rubio was implying. Trump claimed, there was “no problem.” Setting aside the cringing that the statement causes, it’s hard to believe that an actual presidential candidate talked about his genitalia in a room full of people.
