Black Mirror

Black Mirror is a dark, dystopian anthology series created by Charlie Brooker. It explores the darkest sides of modern human life and the unexpected ramifications of technology. Many episodes feature sexual elements, violence, severe language and dystopian themes. They’re often quite shocking and disturbing.

It’s possible that this show sounds like the biggest downer ever created on paper. But it’s honestly one of the most interesting, thought-provoking, risky series that has been on television in years.

Each episode of Black Mirror tells a self-contained story. So while there are technically three seasons, you can basically watch them in any order. They each feature a different setting, a different cast, sometimes even a different reality. And they all explore the way we live now – or the way we might be living in the not too different future – particularly, the unintended consequences of the way we use technology. (The “black mirror” of the title is a screen.)

This is possibly the vaguest description of the stories featured in this series possible. But the settings and plot twists in each episode are so good, you deserve to go into this not knowing anything.

The cast features a wide array of heavy hitting actors, including Rory Kinnear, Lindsay Duncan, Daniel Kaluuya, Jessica Brown-Findlay, Rupert Everett, Hayley Atwell, Domhnall Gleeson, Jon Hamm, Oona Chaplin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and more.

Number of Seasons: 3
