Family
This movie is a great representation of everything a family could and should be. Donna’s mother tells her to not come home when she ends up pregnant with Sophie and so Donna creates her own family. It’s just her and Sophie but she also has Tanya and Rosie.
Sophie does the same thing with her friends and then the fact that Bill, Sam, and Harry all are willing to love her like a daughter no matter what is an amazing example to show. While your own family is important, you can also make your own.
It’s a movie and a story about love and acceptance and finding those who love you unconditionally and it is so important. Most movies show us that you work out your issues because family is the most important thing but Mamma Mia shows us that sometimes, your family isn’t blood. Sometimes your family is people you chose and that’s an amazing message.
Bill, Sam, and Harry are also great because they don’t care who is Sophie’s real father, they all love her like a daughter and continue to do so no matter what. It’s a very lovely story and one that we definitely need more of in movies.
