National Novel Writing Month puts writers to the test every November, trying to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. We’re here to help keep you sane!
If you haven’t heard of National Novel Writing Month, the premise is simple: write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days, beginning November 1. That equates to about 1667 words per day. Anyone anywhere can participate. You can meet up with other people in your area for writing sessions or you can do it all on your own.
It’s a great creative outlet, and if you’re really struggling to find time in your life to write, it gives you a reason.
On the other hand, it’s also a grueling battle against yourself. Whether you’re still in school or have a full-time job, finding time to write comes at a cost. And what, if anything, are you willing to sacrifice? Do you really want to watch that progress bar on your NaNoWriMo profile fall behind?
This time of year brings issues to even the most consistent of writers. For me, it feels like every year gets tougher and tougher. I never want to fall short of that 50,000 word goal. I haven’t “lost” since 2007 and I don’t plan on stopping now!
All of that being said, it is very easy to fall behind during National Novel Writing Month. You easily lose your mind, hitting road block after road block. It doesn’t matter how much prep work you do beforehand: there’s a constant battle to stay ahead of yourself.
We at Culturess are here to give you ten ways to prep and stay on track for NaNoWriMo.
