November may be time for Thanksgiving and family, but it also ushers in the race to the Oscars. Here are eleven movies vying for Oscar gold.
Time flies when you’re having fun. Or when you’re watching movies. Throughout the next two months the Oscar race is in full swing, and it’s hard to believe we’ll be cobbling together year’s end lists in just two short months.
With summer firmly in our rearview, the final months of the year are devoted to the heavy-hitters, the Oscar-caliber stuff. That’s not to say there aren’t still entertaining popcorn movies coming out, but the year’s back half is generally relegated to those studios who have their eye on a golden statue come February. The eleven films listed here are an assortment of big-budget actioners (Doctor Strange), smaller independent efforts (The Love Witch) and serious Oscar contenders (Manchester By the Sea). After a summer that saw several subpar efforts and bombastic studio films, it’s relaxing to have a mix of serious efforts alongside the crazy Marvel movie of the month.
Of course just because a movie isn’t included here doesn’t mean it’s worth seeing. Feel free to give a shout-out to other films you’re excited for this month in the comments below.
