Supergirl

Ah, Supergirl. The female superhero taking the place of Superman on television this year. She was first seen in DC Comics comic books but made her debut on screen in 2007 on The CW’s Smallville. In May 2011, she even made IGN’s list of Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time. In 2015, she gained the lead of her very own show on CBS which is now in its second season, and has switched back to The CW.

Kara Danvers, the cousin of Clark Kent, is hiding behind her Kyrptonian powers as the assistant to Cat Grant. She lives in National City, and while she’s being bossed around by Cat during the day, she takes on the role of the city’s superhero by night.  As vulnerable as she is as Kara Danvers, when she throws on her cape and takes off her glasses, she becomes a heroine any girl can look up to.

This costume is easy to replicate. Find a blue long sleeved shirt, and iron on a giant “S.” Find a red skirt, some red boots, and a red cape, and you’ve just become Supergirl!
