Clarke Griffin

Speaking of Clarke Griffin…

You may be the chancellor, but I’m in charge.”

Damn right you are, Clarke. She’s the lead of The 100, and played by Eliza Taylor. She’s a woman defined by her strength and leadership. She doesn’t give in. She doesn’t back down. She is one of my favorite female characters on television and I’ll tell you why.

In the show, she’s sent down to Earth from her space station, the Arc, since they’re running out of oxygen. With 99 other delinquents, she needs to navigate her way around a new world with new dangers and new enemies. Using her smarts and her all around badassery, she basically saves the day in every season. Clarke is constantly put in tough situations, made to make hard decisions, but she’s never let us down.

That’s not to say her decisions don’t have consequences. I think that’s the mst important thing about her though. She makes mistakes. She’s not perfect. She isn’t the “princess” everyone claims her to be. And isn’t that every woman? Succeeding, while failing. So be the powerful, vulnerable, and committed Clarke Griffin this year.
