Hang up your black cat costume, because Halloween’s about more than your shortest, smallest outfit. It’s a time to be someone you’ve always wanted to be.

We all remember that iconic scene in Mean Girls, where Cady Heron tries to explain and understand Halloween. She shows up to the party as an “ex-wife,” wearing a bulky, uncomfortable wedding dress and smothered in blood. Her friends, on the other hand, are dressed in lingerie and sporting some sort of animal ears, so they can actually call it a costume.
