Phi Phi O’Hara: Future of Drag

Phi Phi broke out this number during the “Future of Drag” runway challenge, and even on a night of stiff competition, it stood out. It might not be the most fashionable thing to stomp down the runway this year (I’d nominate several of Detox’s get-ups in that category), but it was the most eye-popping. While other contestants dressed mainly in shades of silver, Phi Phi went gold-on-blue, giving us a very specific impression of an alien soldier. (Call her Xenu: Warrior Princess.) The body suit looks almost like skin, the homemade laser gun should be sold in stores, and the choice to forego a wig puts more emphasis on the smaller detail work that went into the costume. This was a winner.

It’s a shame Phi Phi didn’t have quite as much success behind the curtain as she did on the runway. Speaking of…
